My name is Chris Payne. I’ve been screen printing for over 20 years. It all started back in 1992 when I moved with my family to Alexander City, Alabama – my father’s home town. I didn’t have plans to go to school right away so I went to work in one of the local textile mills that used to cover the SE United States. Here I began learning the art of screen printing, mostly printing numbers on high school and college sports jerseys and tshirts.
I then made my way to Minneapolis where I started school and continued to print. After I graduated with a degree in Communications, I worked at various shops around the Twin Cities before going into business for myself. I started a small screen printing shop called TEE Squared and in 2002 I sold it in order to spend more time with my family. I continued printing out of a small studio that I set up as a hobby.
In October of 2011, when both of my children were in school full-time, I started a new print shop – Blockhead Printing.
